Hello everyone. I appreciate that you have taken the time to read the first blog post on my new website.

First a brief introduction, my name is Michael Thomsen, I’m a longtime collector of auto racing memorabilia and an enthusiast of the history of motorsports. I hesitate to call myself a “historian” because I don’t believe I fall in that category, which should be reserved for folks like my mentor, the great, irreplaceable Donald Davidson.

I am sure I will speak several times about my admiration for Donald in this space over the next few months, and hopefully years.

You may know me from my work at Emmis Communications, where I have produced the “Heroes of the 500” radio series for the past several years, and where I have co-hosted “Beyond The Bricks” with Jake Query, one of the coolest people in radio, or any other walk of life for that matter. I was quite fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Jake on “Beyond The Bricks” in 2021 and hope to continue that in 2022.

In addition, I have been fortunate to work with the National Indy 500 Collectors Club for the past few years, currently I am one of the Co-Vice Presidents. I used to write a quarterly column for The Short Chute newsletter on behalf of the club regarding auto racing autographs, which I hope to continue in this space. The focus on the column has always been the latest trends in collecting auto racing autographs, how to spot fakes and to share information with fellow collectors.

I hope to use this website to further discuss auto racing autographs and memorabilia, and let you know about the upcoming trading card set that I am producing. I am quite excited about the set, it’s something I have worked hard on and it’s something I have wanted to do for a long time. As I have additional details on the card set I will be posting them here.

In the meantime I hope you will bookmark my new site and check it out as it develops.
